Article Submission and Page Rank
One of the biggest questions people have when it comes to Article Submission has to do with which article directories offer the "best bang for the buck." The fact is though, there's no definitive answer that can cover all the variables involved. Let's take a look . . .
1. Some marketers will tell you that you should only submit articles to a few of the highest ranking article directories. While this may get you a few high end back links, true, there are a couple of other issues that you'll want to consider as well.
First, though the page rank of these back links are high, there's only a few of them. If you're competing for a popular key phrase with some authority sites involved, then you'll be up against sites with incredible numbers of back links. So even though the back links you do have are highly ranked, there wouldn't be enough of them to make that much of a difference in your ability to compete.
Secondly, while the lower ranked article directories may have less power behind their back linking to you, they still count with the search engines. So they add up.
Also, you can't really judge article directories like you do other sites. Article directories are constantly getting new content, and because of this, they're among the fastest rising sites in page rank on the web. A PR0 article directory could very well become a PR3 in a matter of a month, so if you submitted to them at the PR0 level, your article and back link will ride their wave up to PR3 along with them.
When it comes to article directory back links, the more the merrier!
2. Most people who submit articles like to see quick results.
Well this is another issue when you just submit to the highest ranking sites. You see, most article directories "hand moderate" their article submission intake, which means the more articles they take in, the longer it takes to moderate, accept, and post them.
Some article directories can take up to 3 or 4 months before they come to posting your article. That's a long time to have to wait!
But the lower ranked sites, who get less article submission intake will get to posting your articles that much faster, meaning you'll get the benefit of their back linking to you much quicker too.
So there's definitely some benefit to submitting articles to directories of all levels. I'll get into these on another page.
